I have always been a fan of Daredevil, especially after being passed down issues #1-60 from my pops and uncles. They had one copy to stay mint and another copy to read, so I got to actually touch the printed paper from the 1960's instead of reading them on some screen. The smell alone was enough to warp me into the marvel universe. Drawn to Daredevil for his relative lack of super powers and his lack of sight, being that I have 20/300 vision and without my glasses was worthless in a fight. DD was my hero. He inspired me to train my body and my senses to be the best they could be. I'm no Matt Murdock or Stick.... but my situational awareness is top notch. Thanks to the inspiration provided me by Netflix's bold new series and my good friends at Afterbuzz TV, I hand carved this beauty of a piece... not to toot m own horn but I'm really proud of this one. Featuring the calssic Double D, in one corner we see The Man in The Black Mask, the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in his early, grittier days and progresses to the red helmet/mask that we all know, love, and look forward to in the seasons to come. Starting with a piece of walnut, which I plane down and draw my design, then cut it and chisel away the detail, followed by sanding from 320 grit all the way to 1500 grit, then staining an painting. The piece is clamped overnight to the flask with JB Weld, making the hold as strong as the steel its fused too, then is covered in three coats of protective polyurethane. I hope you enjoy it for many years to come. I own no rights to Marvel/Disney properties, only the work that I have done with my own hands.
